| Abstract Art | | Abstract art is now generally understood to mean art that does not depict objects in the natural world, but instead uses color and form in a non-representational or subjective way. In the very early 20th century, the term was more often used to describe art, such as Cubist and Futurist art, that depicts real forms in a simplified or rather reduced way—keeping only an allusion of the original natural subject. Such paintings were often claimed to capture something of the depicted objects' immutable intrinsic qualities rather than its external appearance. See Abstraction. The term "non-figurative art" is sometimes used synonymously with abstraction.

| | What kind of Paintings Style Do You Like? | | I use to like abstract art, but over time I came to really enjoy realism. I am not an artist but I do have a few friends that are and at times I have no idea what they have painted. hahaha! I do enjoy realism a lot, to me it shows real talent and the paintings seem to speak to me. What style do you like? | |

| | | Through Artists' Eyes | | Artists look at the world in a new way. Their work can be funny or sad, beautiful or disturbing, real-looking or strange.Throughout history, artists have painted pictures of nature (called landscapes), pictures of people (called portraits), and pictures of flowers in vases, food and other objects (known as still files). Today many artists create pictures that do not look like anything in the real world. These are examples of abstract art, or modern art.Photography, too, may be a form of art. Photos record both the commonplace and the exotic, and help us look at events in new ways.Sculpture is a three-dimensional form made from clay, stone, metal, or other material. They can be large, like the Statue of Liberty, or small. Some are real looking. Others have no form you can recognize.WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ARTWORK? SITE WHAT YOU HAVE OR ARE YOU COLLECTING ANY? | |
| | I hate conceptual art | | I think conceptual art and to some degree abstract art is all a con and will not stand the test of time as the Old Masters have done. I am amazed that there are no art courses that can be done to my knowledge that teach the fundamental techniques of painting or drawing. Art students leave college not knowing the fundamentals of their craft. | |
| | Do you stare at clouds? | | I was walking home this evening when the sky suddenly moved. Well, not "move" as in the sky roof came falling down, but "move" as in the clouds shifted to form a new fabric of fluff. It was beautiful. For a few moments, I was caught off-guarded and I literally stared. I looked at the clouds and tried to perceive pictures in them.My imagination was given free rein, and I saw castles and palaces where immortals perhaps dwell. I saw heroes of mythical proportions frolicking like children. I saw a painting of abstract art that cannot be distilled into mere words. I got quite carried away and wished that I could just go on watching the clouds forever. If I had to choose a moment for time to stop, I would probably choose that moment. Can you imagine that scene? When you look at something of such ethereal beauty that you need to consciously remember to breathe. In, out. In, out.Has this happened to you before? Have you observed such beauty that you simply wished to soak in that moment forever and ever? It may not be clouds; it may be an object, an occasion, a thought, anything! Birth of a child? Bloom of a flower? Vision of utopia?... | |
| | Where is the next city you'd like to travel to, and why? | | I'd like to travel to visit Hanoi, Vietnam. I've never been to vietnam before and heard lots about it. Apparently they have a very interesting water puppet show, where the puppets glide on water. Also I'd like to buy some art from that place. they have many oil paintings or abstract art that would be good for decorating my home. Not to mention the beaded bags and clothes there! | |
